I grew up in south-central Georgia and we had some of the best watermelons anywhere every summer. My favorite way to eat watermelon is just to slice it or cube it and eat with a fork. But I also love, love making salads with watermelon!

I like to serve watermelons with seeds when I’m just serving watermelon slices or a bowl of cubed watermelon. I use seedless watermelons for other recipes.

Watermelon is a good source of lycopene, which is an antioxidant that has been shown to be beneficial for heart health – about 40% more than raw tomatoes. It also contains mostly water (obviously) and very few calories – perfect for anyone trying to lose weight!

Watermelon is the perfect fruit to beat the heat. It’s sweet, juicy, and full of vitamin C! If you’re looking for a new way to enjoy your favorite fruit or want an easy snack idea, these recipes are just what you need!

How to Pick the Sweetest Watermelon

According to Spoon University, in order to pick the sweetest watermelon, you need to “look for the field spot. This will be a yellow splotch on the underside of a watermelon. It should be a creamy yellow colour. The darker the yellow, the sweeter the melon is!”

A round watermelon is sweeter, while an oval-shaped one will be more watery. Also, watermelons with seeds tend to be sweeter than seedless watermelons. However, seedless watermelons are easier to eat in smoothies, salads, or other recipes when combined with other ingredients.
